Colibrí Institute is an independent nonprofit that studies venture capital, the flow of capital and the policies that shape technology. It publishes open research and brings people together to put evidence to use. Its research agenda, methods and findings are independent of commercial interests.

Its work spans research and field intelligence, technology and capital policy, and convening across the venture ecosystem.

Dr. Mariela Salas

Co-founder

Mariela leads the Institute's qualitative empirical and policy work. Her research at Pepperdine University, where she is a Postdoctoral Fellow, focuses on leadership, identity, and long-term performance in venture capital.

Dr. Itzel Moncada

Dr. Itzel Moncada

Co-founder

Itzel leads the Institute's quantitative empirical work. Her doctoral research at Pepperdine University examines venture capital fund configuration and the structural drivers of performance and risk-return efficiency.

  • Keep the original artwork.Use the supplied files. Preserve the letterforms, accent, descriptor and proportions; do not retype or redraw the logo.
  • Give it room.Leave clear space on every side of at least one-quarter of the full logo’s height. Keep other text and imagery outside that space.
  • Choose a clear background.Use the color or black artwork on white, and white artwork on a solid brand color or another suitably contrasting background. Do not add effects or gradients.
  • Identify the organization.Use the full organization wordmark when the reference needs to identify Colibrí Institute. Keep the descriptor readable at the final display size.
